WNY Prevention Resource Center
Western New York Prevention Resource Center (WNY PRC)
We know that community coalitions are effective in helping prevent substance abuse among youth. The Western New York Prevention Resource Center (WNY PRC) was created to provide assistance and guidance to community coalitions throughout the eight-county area of Western New York.
The WNY PRC works closely with providers and community leaders to build and create new coalitions. Established coalitions, such as the Genesee County Drug Free Communities Coalition, are eligible for training and technical assistance to help maintain coalition efforts. WNY PRC staff trains coalition members and prevention providers in the Strategic Prevention Framework, the cornerstone of coalition work.
WNY PRC Mission
The main purpose of the PRC is to assist in coalition development and to work closely with the regional providers to continue their prevention education programs. The WNY PRC serves Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming, Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Alleghany counties, and serves as a liaison to the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
